Mar. 11—March 11, 1949, in The Star: The annual football banquet for Jacksonville High School was held a few nights ago in the high school lunchroom. Bob Dillon, a senior and a member of the football and basketball teams, was toastmaster. The high school coaches, Earnest V. Newman, E. C. Wilson and Louie Edison, were introduced and Newman, as head coach, received a gift from members of the team. Jacksonville city school Superintendent Ernest Stone was introduced and he in turn introduced several other men who offered their own brief remarks. Coach Newman awarded football letters to Joe Kilgore, Adrian Austin, Jack Taylor, Johnny Tolbert and Elliott Stoffregen. But Army officials also have indicated that they intend to strip bare the Noble Army Health Clinic and the post's elementary school.
