Loehr becomes seventh player in WLA boys basketball history to reach 1000 career points

ROSENDALE — Winnebago Lutheran (6-1, 5-0 Flyway) shot 31 of 65 from the field (47%) for the game, turning a seven-point halftime lead into a 27-point victory, 100-73, over Laconia (2-3, 1-3 Flyway).

With a free throw in the first half, Sam Loehr became the seventh player in WLA history to score 1,000 career points. Loehr finished with 23 on the night for the Vikings.

Noah Gensler and Gannan Schwartz each scored a game-high 27 points to lead WLA.

Keeton Grade recorded a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Spartans. Cash Farrell added 17 points and seven boards, and Nick Blank had 16 points to round out the scoring leaders for Laconia.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lomira 49, St. Mary's Springs 46

LOMIRA — The Lions (3-4, 3-2 Flyway) jumped out to a nine-point halftime lead and held off a second-half comeback by the Ledgers (4-2, 2-2 Flyway) to earn the victory.

Jackson Goebel led Lomira with 15 points and Logan Menzer followed up with 14 for the Lions.

Noah Moul scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds with three steals and three blocks to lead Springs. John Coon added 12 points with four steals and three blocks for the Ledgers.

Campbellsport 56, North Fond du Lac 48

CAMPBELLSPORT — The Cougars (2-5, 1-3 Flyway) pulled away from the Orioles (0-7, 0-4 Flyway) in the second half after entering it tied at 19.

Ethan Pickering led Campbellsport with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. Luke Pendowski and Jace Goebel each had four steals for the Cougars.

No. 7 (D-5) Oakfield 62, Wayland Academy 41

BEAVER DAM — The Oaks (8-1, 6-0 Trailways-East) doubled up the Big Red (3-4, 2-3 Trailways-East) by the half and cruised the rest of the way to victory.

Stella Hofman collected a double-double for Oakfield with a game-high 20 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. Jorja Hofman followed with 17 points, four assists and three steals. Rhyan Vielbig rounded out the Oaks' scoring leaders with 11 points.

Lucia McGuinness led Wayland Academy with 13 points.

No. 1 (D-3) Waupun 58, Berlin 31

BERLIN — The top-ranked Warriors (7-1, 4-0 East Central) built an 18-point advantage at the half while holding Berlin (6-3, 1-2 East Central) to just 10 first-half points in the blowout.

Gracie Gopalan made five 3-pointers to lead Waupun with a game-high 15 points. Rowan Harder added 13 points and Kayl Petersen had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds along with five assists, six steals and four blocks.

Callie Kurczek scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half to lead Berlin. Emma Boegh made three 3-pointers to finish with nine points and Claire Bartol grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.

MAYVILLE — The Orioles (4-4, 2-3 Flyway) evened their overall record with the blowout win against the Cardinals (1-6, 1-4 Flyway).

Aline Mastelic led North Fondy with 17 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Lauren Stettbacher added 15 points and five boards for the Orioles.
