Lodi Vintage Giants begin season Sunday
Mar. 14—The Lodi Vintage Giants will begin their season on Sunday with an 11 a.m. game against Benicia at Kofu Park.
The Vintage Giants play in the NorCal Old Timers League, which is been in action since 1941. Teams are located in Lodi, Benicia, Modesto, San Leandro, Watsonville and Vallejo. Benicia is the defending league champion.
Lodi's manager is Ralph Bain, who, along with Brandon Haworth, has been with the team for 10 years. Lodi's top two pitchers returning are Tom Smith and Lefty Matt Woltkamp. Most players on the team are former minor-league and college players.
