Team Blue wins Quinn Cup
Team Blue defeated Team Red 7.5 to 3.5 to claim the 2023 Dick Quinn Cup on Sunday, Aug. 20.
Results were Blue's Lisa Johnson and Connie LaPlante 2&1 over Ann Melick and Tami Swope; Blue's Keely Dempsey and Paula Brunton 2 up over Mary Jane Shackelford and Lou Taylor; Team Red's Craig Baldwin and Clint Cameron 4&3 over Doug Waltman and Doug Myers; Red's Jeff Shackelford and Bill Schimmel 4&2 over Mike Bennett and Cort Clewell; Blue's Chad Shawger and Tyler Williams 1 up over Ryan Linn and Cole Ryan; Blue's Todd Johnson and Jason Rosser 4&3 over Rick Campbell and Ben Hess; Red's Chris Parker and Mike Knuchel 5&4 over Will Wisecarver and Dan Bogle; Blue's Brent Mirgon and Jack Joseph 7&6 over Tim McHugh and Kevin Miller; Blue's Jared Lewis and Kevin Jones 2&1 over Blake Hartford and Brock Fargus; Blue's Bob Thompson and Bob Glass 5&3 over Jim Cavezzaand Chad Bice; and Mark Dempsey and Vince Paul halved with Scott McDonald and Ryan Dodson.
Hunter's Education course to be in Sept.
A Hunters Education class will be offered Sept. 15 & 16, at Missionary Alliance Church at 545 Richey Road in Zanesville.
Class will from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 15 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 16, and people must attend both days. Registration is required, and to register visit WWW.WILDOHIO.GOV. Snacks will be provided Friday and lunch on Saturday.
Golf League Results
At Green Valley, Deb Davis carded 37 for low gross and Jane Ellis had low net of 23 in the Edward Jones/Scott Barr Ladies League on Wednesday. Birdies were Kathy Mathews on No. 10 & Krystal Maziar on 12, which was a chip-in, while the weekly game winner of most putts was Mary Jane Barclay with 23. Winning teams were 1, 2, 3, 4, 9 and 10.
From Wednesday, Aug. 16, the Edward Jones/Scott Barr Ladies League saw low gross of 43 by Debbi Bollinger & Juanita King and low net of 27 by Donna Middaugh, Rose Garren & Vissy Means. Weekly Game of Most Bogies was won by Liz Aichele with 5. Winning teams were 1, 4, 6, 9, 11, and 12.
In the Trillium Vision Care League, Ron Ayres, Jef Hern & Eric Woodard had low gross of 35 on the front nine and Jon Ward had low gross of 30 and low net of 24 on the back nine. Low Net on the front was Hern with 27, and Low Net Team was South Zanesville Eyecare with 110.

In THE GREENS Couples Scramble League, low gross was 33 by Bob & Lynn Werry, and low net was 29 by Harry & Linda Johnson. The winning teams were Bob & Lynn Werry, Doug & Deb Geyer, Mike & Kelly Eades, Dan & Eli Moore, Joe & Sarah Sampson, Dave & Karen Lyons, Joel & Trista Harris, Harry & Linda Johnson, Al & Sandy Hall, and Brady & Rose Campbell. Closest to Pin: No. 13 Matt Grimm and No. 18 Dan Moore.
At Zanesville CC, the Charlie Goelz League played a Foursome: 2 best balls – net format on Wednesday. The winning team of Kevin Miller, Kevin Every, Lucas Graham and Alan Hurst shot 61, Todd Dever, Ron Kalchik, Jim Cope and Wayne Phillips were second with 63 and Shawn Melsheimer, Dan Pottmeyer and Jim Gasparaine were third with 63. The Goelz Cup Leaders are Bryan Graham with 21 and Steve Baldwin with 19.
The 2023 Mixed Pals Championship was held at ZCC where Vince & Kristy Paul defeated Todd & Lisa Johnson 5 & 3 in The finals. Jeff & Mary Jane Shackelford and Rob Joseph & Debbie Mclain were semifinalists.
The 2023 ZCC Cup – Ladies had a final where the format was 6 holes: scramble, 6 holes: best ball, 6 holes: alternate shot. Keely Dempsey and Ann Melick defeated Paula Brunton Linda Phillips in the finals. Becky Weir/Lisa Johnson and Vicky French/Susan Benincasa were semifinalists.
The 2023 Bob Rankin trophy Scratch Championship was decided on Sunday. The season long individual match play event with no handicap was won by Blake Hartford, who defeated Joe Allen in the finals. Blake was 4 under par through 9 holes to gain the lead and secure the win.
Jeff Shackelford & Rusty Montgomery won the 2023 ZCC Member-Member in a 1-hole playoff on No. 18 against three other teams. Blake Hartford and Kevin Jones won the Scramble Net with 17.5; Scott McDonald and Brian Addis won the Best Ball Net with 19; Rick Whitacre and Bob Harvey won the Alternate Shot Net with 21; and Rick Whitacre and Bob Harvey had Lowest Total Score Net with 64.
At EagleSticks, Kessler Outdoor Advertising scored 24 points to win the 4-team playoff for the Coconis Furniture Tuesday Night League. Dave's Feed and Seed had 20 points and Energy Cooperative and VFH 1058 had 8 points. Winning team members were Dave Carter, Mike Taylor, Doug Gabriel and John Matthews.
At Crystal Springs, Christian Hayden and Austin Skeese shot 35 for low gross and Parker Evans, Skye Bryan and Logan Palmer had low net of 32 in the Tuesday Evening Hittle League. The winning teams were 7-4-10-5-2 and 8 & 12 tied.
In the Crystal Springs Golf Club and Community Bank Monday Morning Senior League, Dan Rauch had low gross of 34 and low net of 31 in the A Division. Winning Teams were 3-12-15-9-5-8-6 and 2 & 14 tied. In the B Division, Kevin Ogle carded low gross of 37 and low net was 34 by Ogle, Marvin Fisher, Carl Gibson and Paul Brown. Winning teams were 8-1-2-5-13-12-7-10.
