Locally... Goins Scramble, Bishops Soccer Camp to be in July

Goins Memorial Scholarship Scramble nearing

The fifth annual Myron and Ruth Goins Memorial Scholarship Foundation will hold an 18-hole golf scramble on July 9, at Fuller’s Fairways. Cost is $220 per team. Anyone interested should contact 740-452-0153 or 740-586-7032, or email gmconstruction@columbus.rr.com.

Junior Bishops Soccer Camp to be in July

The Jr. Bishops Soccer Camp will be July 24-26 and run from 5:30-7 p.m. each day at the fields behind Rosecrans High School. Camp is for players entering K thru 8th grade.

Cost is $40 per camper and a camp shirt is included. Current coaches, players and alumni will conduct the camp.

Muskingum Fishing Club holding tournament

The Muskingum Fishing Club will hold another fundraiser bass tournament on July 9 at the Tappan Boat Ramp, 32489 US 250, Scio, OH 43988.

Registration is from 5 to 6 a.m. with the tournament going from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Entry fee is $90 with 75% payout to the top three placers. There will also be multiple raffles, and the limit is 5 bass over 12 inches with a 1 pound dead fish penalty.

The top placer wins a Googan squad spinning combo. For more information, contact Cody Lauffer at 740-459-8001.

Muskingum Golf Outing to be in July

The Muskingum University Athletic Department is hosting its annual golf outing at 9:30 a.m. July 14 at EagleSticks Golf Club.

Cost is $135 per golfer or $500 per foursome and includes 18 holes of golf, drink tickets, raffles, and dinner. All proceeds from the event benefit Muskie student-athletes. Additionally, the event will feature a golf ball drop contest $10 per ball with a chance to win $1,000 if your ball lands closest to the hole or in the hole.

Golf League Results

At Crystal Springs, Art Snider and Rick Bonifant tied for low gross of 37 and Bob Young had low net of 30 in the A Division of the Crystal Springs Golf Club and Community Bank Monday Morning Senior League. Winning Teams were 12-2-14-3-1-13-4-15. In the B Division, John Williams carded low gross of 36 and Ron Hayes and Tony Beardmore shared low net of 30. Winning teams were 12-1-6-11-5-2-14-9.

At Green Valley, Kathi Galloway posted low gross of 36 and low net of 24 in the MHPCC Ladies League. Winning teams were 1, 2, 8, 9 and 10.

In the Trillium Vision Care League, Rick Creeks shot 28 for low score on the front nine and Creeks, Damon Burkett and Troy Frazee tied for low score on the back with 27. Low net on the front was 25 by Roger Moore, Kevin Graham, Ben Kohl, Eric Woodard & Vince Tolson, and low net on the back was 23 by Burkett. Low Net Team on the front nine was Shai-Hess Real Estate with 108 and Rent-2-Own with 102 was low net on the back.

Debbi Bollinger shot 40 for low gross and Cindy Snider posted low net of 26 in the Edward Jones/Scott Barr Ladies League. The weekly game was Longest Drive on No. 5, which was won by Debbi Bollinger, and the winning teams were 1, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11.

The Wednesday Night Parettes had Mary Burkhart, Gay Higdon, and Suzie Altier with low gross of 41 and Liz Aichele and Michelle Rognon with low net of 28. Winning teams were 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 13.

At Fuller's Fairways, Jim Urban made a hole-in-one on No. 6, while Brian Pierce & Rob Preston fired 34 for low gross and Doug Geyer had 26 for low net in the GEYER FAMILY INSURANCE WEDNESDAY LEAGUE. TEAM results: Flecto (5), J & S Maintenance (0); Jarretts (4.5), Big Johnsons (.5); Goss Supply (4), CCU Mining (1); Carlwick Stop & Shop (4), Farus Funeral Home (1); Geyer Family Insurance (5), Fulmer insurance (0); Mayhem (4), 3 Bald Guys & Bob (1).

Low gross was 31 by Joel & Trista Harris, and low net was 27 shared by Joe & Sas Dougherty and Sherry Wilkins & Doug Briggs in THE GREENS Couples Scramble League. The winning teams were Bob & Lynn Werry, Joel & Trista Harris, Brady & Rose Campbell, Harry & Linda Johnson, Mike & Kelly Eades, Dan & Diane Jewell, Mark & Kelly Baughman, and Barrett & Ashley Tamasovich.

At EagleSticks, Ryan Sheppard and Zach Ferguson fired 35s for low gross on the front nine and Zack Forker and Nick Bobb carded 36s for low gross on the back in the Coconis Furniture Tuesday Night League. Low net on the front was 26 by Zach Zehender, and low net on the back was 29 by Joe Appleman and Allen Deaver.
