Local track teams compete in final indoor qualifiers

Mar. 18—The Western Boone and Zionsville track and field teams competed in last chance qualifiers for the Hoosier State Relays over the last week at UIndy.

On Wednesday, Western Boone competed at the Warren Central Qualifier.

Mason Tomes earned a berth into the Small School Hoosier State Relays field, placing eighth in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.19 (7.14 in the prelims). He is the eighth seed in the Small School Indoor State Meet.

Mason Adams was 17th in the event in 7.30.

In the 3,200, Jalen Latham was 20th in 14:07.82.

The 4x200 relay team of Adams, Marcus Fortner, Klyde McKeighan and Tomes placed 11th in 1:39.65.

The 4x400 team of Latham, Nathan Reid, Darnell Jones and Malachi Christy placed 13th in 4:08.53.

The 4x800 team of Charlie Connors, Graham Cavins, Brennan Bivens and Carter Hanna were 11th in 9:43.13. They also placed 13th in the DMR in 12:43.00.

Philip Talbott was 20th in the long jump in 18-feet-3-inches, with Fortner 27th in 16-feet-9.5-inches. In the shot put, Wyatt Dickey was 14th in 40-feet-10.25 and Gavin Prickett was 24th in 34-feet-8.5-inches.

On the girls side, Lillie Cripe placed 23rd in the 60-meter dash in 8.49. Ki'erra Koch was 37th in 8.79.

Charlotte Stucky was ninth in the 3,200 in 13:39.17, and Bailey Keyes was 18th in 15.11.28.

The 4x200 team of River Roys, Taylor Princell, Koch and Criple placed 21st in 2:00.69.

The 4x400 team of Kate Higer, Emma Hosfield, Riley Cleaver and Roys placed 13th in 5:01.85.

Koch was 14th in the long jump in 15-feet-1.5-inches and Jaylee Dickerson was 29th in the shot put in 23-feet-0.5-inches.

Zionsville

The Eagles traveled down to UIndy on Saturday for the Red Devil Last Chance Qualifier.

The girls team got a win from the 4x800 team of Mackinsey Heagy, Katherine Bowen, Anweshra Mishra and Katy Green in a time of 9:38.82.

The 4x200 team of Omema Anyanwu, Moriah Henry, Alana Day and Paige Wooden was second in 1:48.25.

Anyanwu was third in the 60 in 7.88, with Henry sixth in 7.97.

In the 3,200, Eliana Herman was 11th in 12:12.39 and Maddie Bruns was 14th in 12:21.34.

Laurel Powell was fourth in the hurdles in 9.54 and Mary Stone was 13th in 10.50.

The 4x400 team of Anyanwu, Abby McClure, Wooden and Alyssa Molinaro placed ninth in 4:26.17.

The DMR team of Megan Race, Audrey Magnusen, Lucille Unroe and Sara Bostwick placed seventh in 13:35.28.

Macie Hanson was seventh in the high jump in 4-10 and 16th in the long jump in 15-2.5. Annaliese Tibbs placing 16th in the high jump in 4-6, with Libby Stokely 20th in the long jump in 14-8.5.

Megan Whinnery was third in the shot put in 35-feet-11-inches.

In pole vault, Madison Merrill was fifth in 9-0 and Ava Benson was 13th in 7-6.

On the boys side, Christian Barth was second in the 60-meter dash in 6.85 seconds, and Cam Mullens was third in 7.04.

Camden Stockwell was eighth in the 3,200 in a time of 10:37.32, and Jackson Meneely was 13th in 10:49.83.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Micah Morris was 16th in 9.26 and Mason Nicholson placed 27th in 10.49.

The 4x200 team of Zach Cook, Akasha Mbana, Joseph Jefferson and Sam Manna placed eighth in 1:37.13. Cook, Anderson Varner, Manna and Barth placed 10th in the 4x400 in 3:51.75. The 4x800 team of Jack Mybeck, Nate Corcoran, Noah Berg and Jackson Nobbe placed eighth in 9:08.90.

The DMR team of Elijah Weaver, Samuel Nefouse, Berg and Nolan White placed third in 11:23.10.

Ryan Skura was seventh in the long jump (20-1.5) and high jump (6-0) and Alex Crosby was 10th in the high jump (5-8) and 14th in the long jump (18-11).

Jack Shertzer placed 11th in the shot put in 42-11.5 and Isaac McHenry was 17th in 37-5.5.

The Hoosier State Relay Finals will be held on Saturday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Track.

Small School State (Football Classes 1-3) will start at 9 a.m. with Large School State starting at 3:30.
