Vermont 7, Bravehearts 2: Andrew Chronister hit an RBI double in the sixth inning to bring visiting Worcester to within 4-2 at Centennial Field in Burlington, Vermont, but the Lake Monsters scored a run in the seventh and two in the eighth to put away Game 1 in a best-of-three semifinal series.
The teams completed the game suspended by rain from Monday night, when Vermont led, 3-1, in the second inning.
The series moves Thursday to Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field, where the third-seeded Bravehearts are scheduled to host the No. 2 Lake Monsters at 7 p.m. A third game, if necessary, will be at 6:35 p.m. Friday at Centennial Field.
The winner of the Worcester/Vermont series takes on the winner of Thursday night's game between the top-seeded Norwich Sea Unicorns and No. 4 New Britain Bees. New Britain prevailed, 3-2, Wednesday to even that semifinal series at 1-1.
Central New England Association
Shrewsbury 6, Ronnie's 5: Carter Doran and Nick Martin each had two hits as the Dirt Dogs edged Ronnie's at Shrewsbury High to even the best-of-three championship series, with the title game slated for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at McLaughlin Park in Leominster. The rain date is Friday, same time and field.
Joey Acker singled and doubled for Ronnie's in a game also suspended by rain in the second inning, on Monday.
