LOCAL ROUNDUP: DACC men beats Moraine Valley at home

Nov. 14—DANVILLE — The Danville Area Community College men's basketball team finished its first week of home games with a 73-54 win over Moraine Valley on Saturday.

Ryan Caddell had 13 points to lead the Jaguars, who had a 37-20 halftime lead, while Lorenzo McMillion had 11 points and 16 rebounds, Martez Rhodes had 11 points and two steals and Darius Davis and Payton Weemer each had eight points.

The Jaguars are 2-1 and will host Rend Lake Community College on Wednesday.

PEORIA — The Lady Jaguars ended up 1-1 at the Illinois Central College Classic after beating Milwaukee Tech on Saturday.

The Lady Jaguars started the Classic on Friday with an 100-60 loss to Kirkwood Community College.

Keiara Gregory had 18 points for the Lady Jaguars, while Brianna Hamilton had nine points, Jillisa Briggs had eight points and 10 rebounds, Jayla Greer had seven and Rylee Dowers added six.

DACC will return to Mary Miller Gym on Wednesday with a game against the Franklin College Junior Varsity.

CISSNA PARK — The Blue Devils started the season on Monday with a win at the Timberwolf Tip-Off Classic.

Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin will face Watseka on Wednesday.

Parke Heritage 54, N. Vermillion 30

CLINTON, Ind. — The North Vermillion girls basketball team played in the finals of the Banks of the Wabash Tournament on Friday.

But when the final buzzer sounded, it was the Falcons that lost to Parke Heritage 54-30.

Cadence Dunham had 11 points for North Vermillion, who will try to recover on Thursday, when it goes across the border to play Westville.

Covington 52, S. Newton 20

COVINGTON, Ind. — The Covington girls basketball team went to 2-0 in the season with a 52-20 win over South Newton on Friday.

Emma Holycross had 13 points to lead the Trojans, while Sydni Crain and Halen McBride each had eight, Lilly Hacquet had six points, Karma Kingery had five and Alex Sutherlin, Peyton Brown and Karlee Drollinger each had four points.

After playing Riverton Parke on Monday, The Trojans will play at Western Boone today.
