Olin 2nd, Pacers 5th at Tennessee River Rumble

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. — The No. 6 USC Aiken golf team posted a fifth-place finish at the Tennessee River Rumble, which wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.

The Pacers finished at 14-over 878. The squad was just a stroke behind Wingate. No. 2 Lincoln Memorial claimed the title after shooting even-par 864. No. 1 North Georgia was a shot behind in second. Union (Tenn.) was third at 873.

USCA was led by Erik Olin's second-place finish. He posted rounds of 76-64-74 to finish at 2-under 214, two shots behind medalist Jack Vajda of North Georgia.

Mitchell McNeill (72-70-79) finished 27th at 5-over 221. Oscar Abrahamsson (74-70-78) tied for 35th at 222. Rory McDonald O'Brien (80-67-80) tied for 56th at 227. Jonah Winter (74-76-82) tied for 78th at 232.

The Pacers return to action Apr. 15-16 for the Wofford Invitational.

Girls' Soccer

North Augusta 9, Aiken 1

North Augusta routed Aiken on Tuesday to draw the Region 4-AAAA race even closer as the second half of league play begins.

Claire Jernigan and Rhianna Prince each scored twice, while Kamari Johnson, Kahylia Johnson, Mo Hodges, Katera Garner and Gianna Dimeo each scored once. Garner and Jernigan each had three assists, while Katie Gillespie had two and Sophia Costello had one. Allie Hendrix picked up the win in net.

After Tuesday, Airport has sole possession of first place in the region at 4-1. North Augusta and South Aiken are both 3-2, while Aiken is 2-2 and Midland Valley is 0-5.

North Augusta JV 7, Aiken JV 0

North Augusta's junior varsity girls raced past Aiken on Tuesday.

Brookly Cloutier and Emily LaFont each scored two goals, and Bree Stevens, Harper Westbrook and Raleigh Prince each scored one. Aaliyah Snyder and Maggie Turner were solid on the back end to stifle Aiken's offensive attack, and Nilah Bear posted the win in net.

Boys' Tennis

Aiken 5, North Augusta 1

Aiken finished off the regular-season sweep of North Augusta and improved to 5-1 in Region 4-AAAA play with a win Tuesday.

Henry Vaughters, Joseph Burch, Aiden McElwain, Kyle Tucker and Alex Hammell all picked up singles wins for Aiken, which will next visit Midland Valley on Thursday at Gregg Park.

Baseball

Augusta 12, USC Aiken 7

NORTH AUGUSTA — The USC Aiken baseball team lost a 12-7 non-conference contest Tuesday to Augusta at SRP Park.

The Pacers are now 8-23 on the season.

Cade Bouknight and Jack Hobson had three hits apiece. Capers Molinaroli, Luke Parker and Josh Sharp notched two hits each. Doom Dennis led the way with two RBI while Hobson crossed home plate twice.

Nine different pitchers appeared on the mound for the Pacers. Jaylen Merchant (0-1) was credited with the loss after allowing three runs on two hits in an inning.

The Pacers return to action at 6 p.m. Thursday when they host Georgia College in the first game of a three-game Peach Belt Conference series.

Midland Valley 13, South Aiken 3 (5 innings)

Midland Valley squared its region series with South Aiken on Tuesday with a 13-3 win at South Aiken.

The Mustangs were held to just four hits, but they capitalized on six T-Breds errors, 12 walks and four hit batters. Landon Stringer had two RBI to lead the way for Midland Valley, and Nate Evans, Turner Scott, Baylon Bedenbaugh, Satcher Redd and Luke Busbee drove in a run apiece.

The teams meet for their series finale Friday at Midland Valley.
