What is it?

Liverpool will look to get a march on their title rivals on Saturday as they take on struggling Cardiff City. Neil Warnock's side gave themselves an invaluable boost when they triumphed 4-2 over Fulham last time out for their first Premier League win of the season. Such strife is unheard of for Liverpool however who are nine games unbeaten in the league  this season and enjoying their best ever start.

When is it?

Liverpool are the only team from the Premier League's top five in action on Saturday and take on Cardiff in one of five games in the 3pm slot.

What time is kick-off?

Kick off will be at 3pm.

What TV channel is it on?

Fans of the traditional 3pm kick-off may be in favour. But television broadcast rights means this game won't be shown live due to the blackout, instead supporters having to make do with the highlights.

What is the team news?

Naby Keita has joined fellow midfielder Jordan Henderson in being ruled out of Liverpool's Premier League clash with Cardiff on Saturday. Boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed Keita will sit things out for a third successive match in all competitions due to the hamstring injury he picked up while on international duty with Guinea. Klopp had already said earlier in the week that Henderson, who has a hamstring issue of his own, would miss the match against the Bluebirds.

Cardiff pair Harry Arter and Josh Murphy are fitness doubts. Arter suffered an ankle injury during last weekend's 4-2 win over Fulham, while top scorer Murphy picked up a knock in training this week. Gary Madine could return to the squad after a virus, but Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (knee), Lee Peltier (shoulder) and Danny Ward (knee) remain sidelined as Joe Ralls serves the second game of a three-match ban.

What are the current standings?

What are they saying?

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on coming up against another lively character in opposite number Neil Warnock

"Cardiff deserve all our respect and they will get it.  I’m really looking forward to meeting him, maybe not in the 90 minutes.

"I heard a lot about him. He’s obviously, vocal-wise, very talented. He’s one of the most experienced managers in the world, and what he did in the past is unbelievable.

"He looks like a character, a very emotional and lively person. I saw the final period of the Championship last year and it was impressive how they did it. They deserved it.

"He looks like a very demanding manager, and always has my respect."

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock on the challenge facing his side

"It's massive. It's virtually impossible for any team in the current game. I think the front three is probably the best in the world.

"We've all got to play at the top of our potential to give them a good game and hope they have an off day.

"It's a special place in football, a remarkable place, but I think we can go there and cause problems."

What are the best odds?

  • Liverpool to win 1/9

  • Cardiff 15/2

  • Draw 22/1

What's our prediction?

Liverpool have made set pieces their own in the Premier League this season, enjoying the most success of any of the teams. Cardiff meanwhile are also a bit of a threat from a dead ball situation, which could well be their best hope of getting anything out of this game. Manager Warnock will have his team up for the fight but Liverpool won't slip up.
