HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Nauset boys hockey stays hot with win over Falmouth

The Nauset Warriors (5-1-1) boys hockey team had five different scorers as they beat Falmouth 5-1 for their fourth win over the last five (one tie) games on Wednesday. Logan Poulin, Cam Connery, Jake Eldredge, Colin Ward and Joe McManus each contributed a goal, while Andrew Bohannon chipped in one assist for Nauset.

Boys Hockey

Nantucket 4, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Whalers (5-1) have won five straight and have not lost since their season opener against Division 4 state champs Norwell. Will McAdams had 40 saves in net for D-Y.

Martha’s Vineyard 3, Barnstable 3: Chase Field scored all three goals for the Red Hawks (3-3-1) as they came from behind to tie with the Vineyarders (4-2-1).

Upper Cape 5, Blue Hills 2: Goaltender Charlie Carroll led the Rams (2-3) defense as he made 28 saves in net. Senior Ty Rebeiro had three points (one goal and two assists), while Finn Ballard and Tyler Dmytryck each scored twice.

Bourne 5, Abington 3: Dana Leach scored two goals, while Ty Kelley added another goal and dished out two assists for the Canalmen (5-1-1) in the win. Caleb Kean (two assists), Ryan Burgess (one goal), James Crowell (one goal), and Domenic Bonito (one assist) all contributed for Bourne.

Sandwich 10, East Bridgewater 1: Avery Richardson and Jack Connolly each had a hat trick for the Blue Knights (7-1) in the win. Connor Reid and Stephen Trombly scored their first goals, while Harrison Delman had a goal and one assist and Jack Hughes also found the back of the net for Sandwich. Reece MacKinnon, Nicholas Buckland and Brayden Ramsey each dished out one assist.

Monomoy/Mashpee 4, St. John Paul II 1: The Sharks (1-4) get the monkey off their back with the first win of the season against league opponent Lions (3-5-1). Max Cronen and Logan Puma each scored a goal and dished out one assist, while Nick Garneau (first varsity goal) and Gavin O'Leary also found the back of the net for Monomoy. Owen Cloney chipped in an assist, while Dominic Silvester had 27 stops in net.

Girls Hockey

Falmouth 6, Sandwich 4: Casey Roth scored twice to lead the Clippers (6-1) to their third straight win. Avery Johnsen, Maeve Turner, Jane Hostetter and Rylin Briggs each found the back of the net for Falmouth. Casey Pestilli scored twice and had an assist, while Elizabeth Stutzman finished with two goals for Sandwich. Ainsley Hopwood had a hat trick of assists, Darby Rounseville added two more assists, and Emma Itri and Khloe Schultz each had one assist.

Martha’s Vineyard 7, Dennis-Yarmouth 2: The Vineyarders (4-1) picked up the win over the Dolphins (1-4-1). Airka Umbrello had a two-point night with a goal and an assist, while Leah Woodward also had a goal for D-Y.

Barnstable 2, La Salle Academy 0: Grace Holden and Ally McEneaney each scored to lead the Red Hawks (3-3) to back-to-back wins for the first time this season. The defense was led by Ryley King, Emma Dasilva Penny Baron, and Lauren Spagone, while Meli Raspante played well in net for Barnstable.

Nauset 13, Nantucket 0: The Warriors (6-1) won their fifth straight and had their second shutout (back-to-back) of the season. The Whalers fall to 0-4.

Boys Basketball

Stoughton 72, Nauset 61: The loss snapped a three-game win streak for the Warriors and they fall to 3-4 on the season.

Falmouth 48, Plymouth North 42: Sam Stoermer led the Clippers (2-4) with 22 points as they snapped a two-game slide. Jackson Falcone scored nine points, while Adrean Blackwood and Andrew Plourde led the team defense.

Sandwich 60, Mashpee 47: Cole Rodgers scored 27 points and grabbed three rebounds for the Blue Knights (3-3) as they beat the Falcons (5-3). Daniel Oman had nine points, three rebounds, and two steals, while Connor Finn had eight points and four steals for Sandwich. Matt Murray contributed seven points and played well on defense.

Girls Basketball

South Shore Christian 37, Falmouth Academy 32: Faye McGuire led the Mariners (1-3) with eight points, but they could not pick up the win. Elise Sharpe and Caroline Cazeault each had seven points for Falmouth Academy.

Cape Tech 54, Sturgis East 23: Julianna Santana had a good all-around game with 10 points, four rebounds, six assists, and six steals that led the Crusaders (2-4). Caelyn Parris had 10 points, four assists and six steals off the bench, while Lindsay Payne and Addy Burlingame had a combined seven points, 18 rebounds and five steals for Cape Tech. Gianna Lubash had a near double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds to go with three assists.

Sandwich 43, Mashpee 17: The Lady Knights won their seventh straight and move to 7-0 on the season. Kolbie Darmon scored five points and added five steals, while Avery Cobban chipped in seven points and five steals. Hannah Sareault contributed five points and five rebounds for Sandwich.

Wareham 49, Monomoy 46: The Sharks (1-4) came up just short as Wareham scored the winner with 7.8 seconds left. Tatiana Malone led the way with 11 points, while Fiona Moore and Kylie Mawn each finished with eight points for Monomoy.
