Recap: Results, highlights from Friday's track and field events at the Drake Relays
Friday brought with it a full day of intense track-and-field action on the Blue Oval at the Drake Relays in Des Moines. From high schoolers looking hoping to pounce on a big moment to professional competitors looking for another career accolade, this day was another special one at Drake Stadium.

Purdue's Cierra Williams takes the women's race in 53.57. Illinois State's Raydoffa Braziel takes the men's race in 47.60
5:35 p.m. — Ryce Reynolds wins the boys 400
Mount Ayr standout take the title in 48.46.
5:20 p.m. — Jaidyn Sellers wins the girls 400
Panorama standout takes the Drake Relays title in 56.24.
5 p.m. — Back underway with the evening session
Kicking off the evening with the middle school distance medley relay. The Des Moines Christian quartet of Zoe Fish, Addison Mumm, Brynn VanMersbergen and Stella Pothoven took the girls title in 4:34.30. The Indianola quartet of Rylan Hilton, Daxton Heimbaugh, Deacon Jacobs and Theo McDonald took the boys title In 3:51.08.

Ames' Blake Whaley won the 100m in 14.38, while Norwalk took the title in the 4x100 relay.

Cedar Rapids Washington's Miles Thompson won the boys race in 10.54. Panorama's Jaidyn Sellers won the girls race in 12.23
2:15 p.m. — Iowa Western shines in the men's 400m hurdles
Freshman JUCO hurdler Jayden Brown had no trouble among the Division I big boys, winning the college 400m hurdles in 51.18. South Dakota's Jacy Pulse won the women's race in 56.79.

First Mid-Prairie's Jayden Stafford wins the high school 400m in 1:04.06. Next, Illinois' Hannah Dederick wins the women's 800m in 1:54.35. The Fighting Illini make it a clean wheelchair sweep with Evan Correll's victory in the men's 800m (1:40.73).

11:10 a.m. — Iowa State rolls to a women's 4x1600 victory
The quartet of Madelynn Hill, Ashlyn Keeney, Janette Schraft and Cailie Logue cruise to a win in 19:04.56, more than 20 seconds faster than runner-up Arkansas State.
Keeney has a few Drake Relays flags while competing at Iowa City Liberty. She has a collegiate one now too.
