Littleton boys, Lunenburg girls shine at MSTCA Relays

Boys' track

MSTCA State Relays: Littleton (49 points) placed second in the final event, the 4x400-meter relay, to capture the Division 5 team title at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Roxbury. Quabbin (43) was second, and Lunenburg (22) fifth.

Littleton breezed to victory in the 4x800-meter relay in 8:15, more than 16 seconds better than runner-up Martha's Vineyard, and also in the distance medley (11:11.19), with Lunenburg (11:48.96) placing fifth. In the 4x800, Parker Charter (8:36.13) was third and Gardner (9:12.86) eighth.

In the 4x400, Littleton finished second to Lunenburg to outlast Quabbin in team scoring. The Blue Knights finished in 3:36.28, to the Tigers' 3:38.74.

Lunenburg won the 1,600 sprint medley in 3:43.17, with Littleton (3:51.59) finishing fourth and Quabbin (3:58.67) sixth.

Led by individual winner Lars Jenkins (5 feet, 10 inches), Quabbin won the team high jump (16-7¼), and also finished second in the shuttle hurdles (29.63). Littleton tied for third with Oakmont in the high jump (15-9) and was third in the shuttle hurdles (29.97), with Oakmont (33.85) sixth.

Central Mass. had eight of the top 10 high jumpers. Oakmont's Russell Hertel and Quabbin's Andrew Twarog tied for third (5-6). Tying for sixth were Littleton's Maxime Thouy, Mubeshire Bradshaw and Arav Arora, Oakmont's Kamden Law and Quabbin's Owen Faulha, all at 5-4.

Faulha then dominated in the shot put, with a top heave of 52-4 to power Quabbin to first place (125-6).

In the 4x50-yard relay, Quabbin placed third in 23.26, and the Panthers took fourth in the team long jump (54-6), led by No. 6 individual Brett Earle (19-0).

Littleton (1:37.75) and Quabbin (1:37.88) placed 3-4 in the 4x200.

In Division 4, North Middlesex (31.71) placed finished in the shuttle hurdles.

Girls' track

MSTCA State Relays: Lunenburg was second by one point to Weston, which won the 4x400, the final event, to capture the Division 5 team title at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The Blue Knights finished with 40 points, with Littleton (16) tied for seventh and Nipmuc (14) ninth.

Lunenburg took second in the 1,600 sprint medley (4:23.93), third in team shot put (84-6), fourth in the 4x800 (10:21.67) and fifth in the team high jump (12-8). Narragansett (10:28.01) was fifth in the 4x800.

Groton-Dunstable (25.49) prevailed in the 4x50-yard relay, Lunenburg (16.27) was fifth and Nipmuc (26.43) sixth. Lunenburg (33.75) came in fourth in the shuttle hurdles.

Littleton (1:53.51), which was fourth in the 4x200 relay (1:53.51) and fifth in the 4x400 (4:21.6), won the distance medley (12:35.08), with Lunenburg second, Narragansett (13:21.90) fourth and Groton-Dunstable (13:33.70) sixth. Nipmuc (4:20.94) placed fourth in the 4x400.

In Division 4, North Middlesex (43 feet, 7¾ inches) took fifth in the long jump relay, led by Madison LaCreta (15-3½), who placed eighth individually.
