Lexington, Ontario, Reiter advance out of Division I sectional girls golf
SYCAMORE — The Lexington Lady Lex girls golf team is a sectional champion once again.
Lexington won the Division I sectional championship at Sycamore Springs Golf Course on Wednesday with a team score of 375. Ashland (392), Norwalk (408), Findlay (411) and Ontario (419) round out the top five teams advancing to next week's district tournament at Stone Ridge.
Lady Lex was led by Makaree Chapman, who fired a 44-39-83, while Darice Reinhart added a 44-46-90, Kyler Lamb added a 51-49-100 and Lauryn Nupen rounded out the scoring with a 52-50-102. Willow Roberts added a 55-55-110 for the drop score.
Ontario was led by Anzaya Estep with a 45-47-92 while Delaney Moritz added a 52-54-106, Brooklynn Black had a 53-55-108, Ashley Hall had a 55-58-113 and Alexia Sesco rounded things out with a 59-68-127. It is the Warriors' second consecutive trip to the district tournament.
Madison finished ninth as a team with a 463. Kyleigh Reiter led the Rams with a 48-53-101. She claimed the fifth and final individual qualifying spot after a playoff hole and will compete at next week's district tournament.
Kyah Huckleberry led the Arrows to the runner-up finish with a 42-45-87 while Lydia Wells added a 45-43-88. Elleni Miller (43-47-90), Natalie Kohler (65-62-127) and Carly Wyatt (63-66-129) rounded out the scoring for Ashland.
Alyssa Turner was the lone competitor for Mansfield Senior, shooting a 68-70-138.
Celina's Maddie Fleck was the medalist with a 40-38-78.
The Division I district tournament begins Tuesday at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green.
