What led Savannah Christian's Logan Brooking to commit to this ACC football program

Logan Brooking of Savannah Christian, the football star with more than 25 scholarship offers on the table, announced his commitment to play for Clemson on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday.

The Raider standout, and son of former Atlanta Falcon star Keith Brooking, retweeted a story detailing his decision by Chad Simmons, of On3.com.

Brooking, the 4-star tight end prospect, had announced his Top Eight schools earlier in the week. In addition to the Tigers -- Florida, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, Penn State, South Carolina and Stanford were on the list for the 6-foot-4, 230-pound junior.

An All-Greater Savannah first-team selection as a sophomore, Brooking stars on both sides of the ball for the Raiders, who beat host Liberty County 63-21 Thursday night in their regular season finale. He caught five passes for 85 yards in the game and added nine tackles and a sack as a defensive end.

Savannah-area football star Logan Brooking announces college commitment

"Of all the schools that were recruiting Logan, Clemson went all in on him," Savannah Christian coach Baker Woodward said. "You could see how much time and work they put into it. Dabo Swinney and all his assistant coaches sent hand-written notes to him -- and that kind of recruiting is rare to see these days.

"Swinney likes to put all his recruiting eggs in a few baskets -- and Logan is the only tight end they have offered in his class. Logan went to a camp and balled out and all the coaches were impressed. Dabo is great at working with talented players and helping them improve -- and he also works hard on developing young men as well -- and I think that stood out to Logan and his family."

He has 25 catches for 408 yards and a touchdown on the season, with 46 tackles, including 10.5 for losses, with six sacks for a defense allowing 14 points per game. SCPS (8-2) enters the playoffs ranked No. 5 among Class 3A teams in the state by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

"Logan's ceiling is so high," Woodward said. "He's 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds right now as a junior in high school -- and he'll get even bigger in the weight room with the nutritionists that they have at college. He's a physically dominating blocker, but you can also split him out like a receiver. He'll go up and make a catch boxing the defender out like he's making a rebound in basketball. Then he'll stiff arm you and run you over if you try to bring him down. He's being recruited as a tight end, but he makes such an impact with us as a defensive end. He's just a great kid who also excels in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA. Clemson is getting a great player and a great person."
