LeBron James gives respect to Sixers’ Mac McClung for dunk contest

Philadelphia 76ers two-way guard Mac McClung still has the NBA world buzzing after an electrifying slam dunk contest performance on Saturday night in Utah. The G Leaguer put up four impressive dunks, and he scored a perfect 50 on three of them to win the contest.

McClung has quickly become a household name just for his dunk contest performance. The dunk contest itself had been losing its luster due to the lack of buzz. That the league invited McClung, who has been in the G League all season, also turned off some people.

Instead, McClung put on a helluva performance, and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James gave him respect after the All-Star game on Sunday.

“He solidified himself as one of the — probably one of the greatest slam dunk competitors we’ve had in the history of the game,” James told reporters after the game in Utah.

While McClung certainly put on a performance, he must turn his focus to the Sixers and trying to earn a spot in coach Doc Rivers’ heart. He has been having a good season with the Delaware Blue Coats. Now that he’s on a two-way deal, he has a chance to earn time in the NBA and he will have to show what he can do in that setting.
