Le-Win, Du/Pec, Boylan, Hononegah players lead Week 6 top performers

Here is a look around the Rockford area at all of the biggest stars and the top performers from Week 6 of the high school football season:

Gage Dunker, Lena-Winslow RB

Dunker's previous best was 202 yards against Forreston in a playoff win for Lena-Winslow last year, but on Friday he surpassed that by halftime, and went on to rush for 355 yards and five touchdowns in a 48-27 victory over Durand/Pecatonica. Dunker scored from 75 yards out on his second carry of the night, and then barrelled 59 yards on his fifth rush of the game, taking it to the 10 and setting up Le-Win's second TD. The Panthers scored on their first seven possessions, with Dunker getting five of them.

Logan Weems, Oregon RB

Weems was the workhorse for Oregon once again, and it worked once again as the Hawks earned their third win of the season with Weems in charge. He ran for 112 yards and three TDs on 29 carries, sparking Oregon's 28-7 win over Stillman Valley.

Jack Christensen, North Boone QB

Christensen led North Boone to a 33-14 win over Rock Falls by throwing for 227 yards while completing 14 of his 28 passes with three touchdowns.

Jack Washburn, Oregon QB

Washburn was effecient, and dangerous when needed, during Oregon's win on Friday, connecting on nine of his 13 passes for 161 yards. He had no interceptions, and hit tightend Josh Crandall on a seven-yard TD pass late in the first quarter to kick off the scoring.

Cooper Hoffman, Durand/Pecatonica QB

Once he got hot, Hoffman was impressive, hitting on 17 of his 29 passes for 335 yards and a pair of TDs during Du/Pec's 48-27 loss to Le-Win. He had a rushing TD as well, but also threw his first interception of the season, and rushed for minus-three yards on six carries.

Cobryn Lynch, Le-Win RB

Lynch rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, but was a bit overshadowed by his own teammate. He was still impressive, and had three third-down conversions and averaged 7.2 yards per touch.

Owen Mulder, Forreston RB

Mulder rushed for 71 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns during Forreston's 22-8 win over Stockton that kept the Cardinals perfect on the season. Mulder had some of the game's clutch runs as Forreston controlled the clock in the win.

Caden Considine and Brayden Knoll, Byron RBs

Considine finished with 138 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 13 carries and Knoll tallied 107 yards and a pair of TDs on just six carries as Byron blew out another foe, 52-12 over Genoa-Kingston. Considine also had eight tackles, and Knoll added four, including one for minus-eight yards.

Jaxsyn Kempel, Eastland/Pearl City RB

Kempel rambled for 104 yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries Friday, sparking E/PC's first win of the season, 40-15 over Aurora Central Catholic. Kempel alson had five tackles on defense.

Jahmani Muhammad, Harlem

Muhammad ran for two touchdowns and over 200 yards in Harlem’s 41-13 win over East.

Grant Gensler, Rochelle

Gensler ran for 152 yards and Rochelle’s first three touchdowns on only six carries to lead the Hubs (4-2) to a 47-0 thrashing of Marengo (3-3).

Rochelle’s offensive line

The Hubs ran for 454 yards and averaged 11.4 yards per carry in their 47-0 win over a Marengo team that came into the game with the same record as them (both 3-2 at the time).

Payton Woker, Freeport

Woker passed for three TDs in Freeport’s 21-20 loss to Guilford.

Rasheed Johnson, Boylan

Johnson caught four passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns in Boylan’s 24-21 loss to Hononegah. He also had a 93-yard kickoff return wiped out by a holding penalty.

Connor Dennis, Boylan

Dennis completed 18 of 39 passes for 321 yards, two TDs and one interception. He also scrambled away from a heavy pass rush several times in Boylan’s 24-21 loss to Hononegah. That was only the second 300-yard passing game in Boylan history, second only to Demry Croft’s 418 yards in 2014.

Isaiah Houi, Hononegah

The NIC-10’s leading receiver caught four passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. He also returned one kickoff past midfield and made an end zone interception on defense.

Cole Schmall, Hononegah

Schmall caught seven passes for 156 yards, fourth-most in Hononegah history, and a touchdown in a 24-21 win over Boylan.

Greyson Motter, Hononegah

Motter ran 19 times for 109 yards for his first 100-yard game in Hononegah’s 24-21 win over Boylan.

Cole Warren, Hononegah

Warren completed 13 of 23 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. He also ran eight times for 29 yards in Hononegah’s 24-21 win over Boylan.

Nico Bertolino, Belvidere North

Bertolino scored three touchdowns in North's 35-6 win over Auburn. He ran eight times for 82 yards and two scores and also caught a 27-yard TD pass from Max Gyllenswan.
