Lara Gut-Behrami wins Killington GS, another podium for Mikaela Shiffrin
Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami took a giant slalom in Killington, Vermont, for her 39th World Cup win, while Mikaela Shiffrin earned a women's record-extending 140th World Cup podium.
Gut-Behrami, 32, prevailed by 62 hundredths of a second over New Zealand's Alice Robinson combining times from two runs. Shiffrin was third, 81 hundredths back.
Gut-Behrami also won the other GS this season, the season-opening race in Sölden, Austria on Oct. 28, to become the second-oldest woman to win a World Cup GS. Her 39 World Cup wins are second among active men and women behind Shiffrin's record 89.
In six giant slaloms held in Killington, Shiffrin has finished second, third, fourth, fifth, 13th and now third again. In GS, it's the only venue that she has raced that many times without a win.

Shiffrin won the last five World Cup GS races of the 2022-23 season, plus the world championships, then was sixth in Sölden.
Shen then suffered a bone bruise on her left tibial plateau in a training crash about four weeks ago, visited the hospital and missed a significant amount of practice before placing fourth and first in slaloms on Nov. 11-12.
"I am super, super excited," Shiffrin said of Saturday's result on NBC Sports. "Thirteenth here last year in the GS, being able to come back and sort of conquer the hill in a way that I haven't before, especially after the last few weeks of prep, that's been an enormous success today. There's still work to do."
Killington hosts a slalom on Sunday, live on NBC, NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports app and Peacock. Shiffrin won five of the six Killington slaloms since the stop was added to the World Cup in 2016.
