Langdon-E-M, May-Port-C-G each land two on Class B all-state volleyball team
Nov. 21—GRAND FORKS — The Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg volleyball program advanced to the North Dakota Class B state tournament this season for the first time in more than 20 years.
The Patriots advanced all the way to the state championship match.
The key leaders from the state runner-up Patriots were recognized Tuesday as selections to the North Dakota Class B all-state team, as selected by the North Dakota High School Coaches Association.
Rylee Satrom was named to the all-state first team, while Danica Hanson was a second team choice.
Langdon-Edmore-Munich teammates Cora Badding and Jalynn Swanson were both honored as first-team all-state picks. Badding is a repeat all-state pick.
Thompson's Brenna Martin was also honored as a first-team pick to round out Grand Forks Herald coverage area selections to the all-state teams.
Satrom finished the season with 280 kills and had 869 for her career. She had 485 digs this season to finish her career with 1,221 career digs.
Satrom had 13 kills in the state semifinals against Our Redeemer's and 13 more in the state title match against Northern Cass.
Hanson finished the season with 536 assists to finish her career with 1,070. Hanson added 260 kills and 61 aces this year. She had 335 digs this season to give her a career total of 891.
Hanson finished the state tournament with 27 kills in three matches.
Martin finished the year with 466 kills, 50 blocks and 23 aces. Martin recorded 1,053 career kills for the Tommies, where she recorded a record of 117-26 in her four-year varsity career.
Swanson finished the year with 979 assists, 124 kills, 339 digs, 63 aces and 22 blocks. Her 3,620 assists are a school record.
Badding had 589 kills this season to finish with 1,714 for her career. She added 343 digs, 46 aces and 55 blocks.
