How Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss football used Texas A&M social media comments for motivation

OXFORD — Ole Miss football quarterback Jaxson Dart said the Rebels used social media comments made by Texas A&M players as bulletin board material before their 38-35 win on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Several Aggies replied with muscle emojis under an Ole Miss' Instagram post on Tuesday, presumably in jest.

The Rebels took it personally.

"I know the O-Line, specifically, they took that to heart, especially because of how many defensive linemen commented on it," Dart said. "I guess they didn't get enough attention from all the games they're losing. So, it was a good win for us."

Naturally, the official Ole Miss football account on X, formerly Twitter, posted the final score with the same emoji. And several Ole Miss players followed suit.

Dart went live on Instagram postgame to land another punch.

"Money don't win you ballgames," he said, referencing the Aggies' financial strength.

It was a fitting end to a tense week, with Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin landing subtle jabs at Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher. The two have sparred since Fisher poached defensive coordinator DJ Durkin from Kiffin's staff two years ago.

Kiffin, who called Texas A&M the best 5-3 team ever in the buildup, didn't twist the knife postgame.

"Credit to A&M for coming back in a game that was heading one direction," he said.
