Lakers vs. Warriors: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks (MLK Day)

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers host Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors on MLK Day, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 10:00 p.m. ET and can be seen on NBA TV.

The Lakers (11-3) have been rolling, and are currently on a five-game winning streak even though Anthony Davis’ numbers haven’t quite been as stellar as you’d expect. The Warriors (6-6) have lost two in a row by nine points or more, and are 5-7 against the spread for the season, compared to 8-6 for the Lakers.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Lakers -8.5

  • Money line: Lakers -400 / Warriors +310

  • Over-under: 226.5

Advice and prediction

The Lakers have covered the spread in each of their last four wins, and I don’t see any reason to continue backing LeBron James and the defending champs. Even if you assume Steph Curry goes off for 35 or 40 points on Monday night, Golden State just doesn’t have the roster to match up with the Lakers, who have been playing focused basketball of late.

I’m taking Lakers -8.5 here, and also eyeing a bet on the Under 226.5. The Warriors haven’t gone over that total in any of their last five games, and are averaging just 105 points a game in that span, and will be facing off against one of the best defenses in the league. Under bets have gone 5-0 in Golden State’s last 5, and 10-4 in all Lakers games this season.

Prediction: Lakers 115, Warriors 101
