Lakers are reportedly intrigued with trading for Cam Reddish

Many agree the Los Angeles Lakers badly need an infusion of depth and talent at both forward spots, and there have been plenty of rumors as far as who they may be targeting to address this issue.

Detroit Pistons sniper Bojan Bogdanovic has been often mentioned as a potential target, and L.A. has reportedly kicked the tires on some possible packages that could land him.

Another name mentioned is the New York Knicks’ Cam Reddish, a 6-foot-8 23-year-old who is thought to be brimming with potential. In fact, some in the Lakers organization may be a bit enamored with him.

Via Lakers Daily:

“Los Angeles Lakers fans have been anxiously waiting for their team to make a trade. Fortunately, L.A. is presumably still evaluating all of its options behind the scenes, and one player some people within the organization are reportedly intrigued by is Cam Reddish.

“‘There are people within the organization very intrigued by New York Knicks forward Cam Reddish — a 6-foot-8, 23-year-old wing — who would give the Lakers size on the perimeter, a massive need,’ wrote Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times. ‘He’s also a former lottery pick, the kind of reclamation project the Lakers have had some success with this year with a player like Lonnie Walker IV.

“‘League sources say the Knicks are seeking a protected first-round pick for Reddish (they sent one to Atlanta in the deal to acquire him — and the (Atlanta) Hawks subsequently used it in their trade for Dejounte Murray). Reddish isn’t currently in the Knicks rotation, so the asking price is expected to eventually dip.'”

Reddish could develop into a useful 3-and-D player. However, in four pro seasons, he has never shot above 35.9% from downtown, and he’s down to 30.4% this season.

He hasn’t appeared in a game since Dec. 3; he has apparently fallen into head coach Tom Thibodeau’s doghouse.
