Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd and Ortonville runners also compete in state meet

MINNEAPOLIS — Canby-Minneota's girls raced to a seventh-place finish in the girls division team standings on Saturday in the Minnesota Class A State Cross Country Meet at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.

St. Cloud Cathedral led the 16-team field with a score of 68. Canby-Minneota finished with a score of 208.

Senior Braelyn Merritt led the Lancers, finishing 21st in 5,000-meter race in a time of 19 minutes and 52.4 seconds. Eighth-grader Mya Pesek was 49th (20:20.1), junior Claire Stoks 78th (21:04.4), eighth-grader Jordyn Jostock 108th (21:30.7), freshman Taylor Ourada 123rd (21:54.8), freshman Ava Danielson 124th (21:56.3) and freshman Jonna Briggs 142nd (22:52) out of 158 runners.

Freshman Chloe Gloege of Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd took 26th (19:58.5).

Sophomore Olivia Pauly of St. John's Prep won the race in 18:20.5.

Eddie Snider, a junior from Mounds Park Academy, topped 160 runners to win the Class A boys' 5,000 in 15:40.4. Heritage Christian won the team title with a score of 106.

Sophomore Cadyn Vanderwal of Ortonville took 38th (16:59.2) and junior Gavin Carl of LqPV-DHB 54th (17:20).
