Kyrie Irving congratulates former Celtics teammates after sweep
Kyrie Irving set the tone for the Celtics-Nets series in Game 1, dropping 39 points in a thriller as he racked up a huge fine from the NBA for his interactions with fans.
Unfortunately for the Nets, Irving largely disappeared over the next three games as the Celtics completed a first-round sweep. Irving scored just 10 points in Game 2, 16 in Game 3 and 20 in Game 4 while averaging 14.3 attempts per game, well below his season average.
Irving congratulated his former Celtics teammates on Twitter, writing that they “earned the series” win, and also shared a message for the hordes of fans and analysts that have been roasting the Nets over the way the season ended.
We didn’t get the result we wanted, but I wanted to congratulate my brothers in that Celtics locker room. They earned the series Win and I wish them well as they advance. Nothing but love competing against them.
