Kyren Williams is Rams’ first 1,000-yard rusher since Todd Gurley in 2018

Kyren Williams came out of nowhere to become one of the best running backs in the NFL, something no one can really argue after the season he’s had. Despite missing four games this year, Williams still managed to go over 1,000 rushing yards in just over 11 games.

He hit the 1,000-yard mark on Thursday night against the Saints, rushing for 47 yards in the first half. Williams is the Rams’ first 1,000-yard rusher since Todd Gurley in 2018, a season in which he had 1,251 yards on the ground and a league-high 17 rushing touchdowns.

Williams won’t come close to Gurley’s touchdown total that year, but he could approach his rushing yards. Gurley reached 1,251 yards in just 14 games, too, so he was averaging 89.4 yards per game. Williams came into the week averaging 95.3 yards per game, so he’s outpacing Gurley’s 2018 season.
