Kylie Jenner Discusses Plastic Surgery in Her “Paper” Cover Story

“People think I fully went under the knife and completely reconstructed my face.”

Kylie Jenner’s beauty transformation has been the subject of scrutiny and speculation since she was a young teen. In 2015, the makeup mogul famously admitted that she had lip fillers on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, citing pressures from reporters who consistently asked her about it. In the years since she’s become much more open about her famous lips, even tagging her dermatologist in an Instagram story photo post of her face.

This week, she put other rumors to rest in an interview for her Paper Magazine cover. “People think I fully went under the knife and completely reconstructed my face, which is completely false," she told Paper Magazine. "I'm terrified! I would never. They don't understand what good hair and makeup and, like, fillers, can really do." She then admits, "It's fillers. I'm not denying that."

Another critique often thrown Kylie's way is about her over-the-top her makeup routine and the image she projects on social media. According to her, though, it's what makes her happy. "Makeup is something that makes me feel empowered, makes me feel good, and I think it's such a positive thing," she told Paper."There's no harm in playing around with it and feeling good about yourself."

Though she doesn’t owe anyone an explanation about what she does to her body, Kylie’s willingness to open up about her fillers and makeup is a positive thing. Similar to the recent transparency around Photoshop in beauty campaigns, disclosing how celebrities get their often unattainable looks is a way to promote positive body image for people who are vulnerable to it.
