Kyler Murray rejoins Cardinals for OTAs amid contract dispute
TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is in the building.
Murray reported to the Cardinals' practice facility Wednesday morning and later participated in the team's voluntary OTA session. Murray threw passes to wide receiver Marquise Brown, his former Oklahoma teammate whom the team acquired in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens in April, and went through various individual and team drills on the field.
“It feels like the first day of school again," Cardinals offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum said. “Glad that he’s back. Excited to work on some of the things we need to work on to get better this coming year.”
The Cardinals quarterback was not at the team’s facility last week for the start of OTAs amid an ongoing contract dispute.
Murray’s agent released a statement earlier this offseason expressing his displeasure over the QB’s contract situation. Murray currently has two years left on his rookie contract after the team exercised his fifth-year option. The QB is set to make just over $5 million in 2022.

The quarterback’s decision to attend the team’s voluntary practice could serve as an indication that there is positive movement regarding his contract situation. Murray has been in communication with Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury and teammates throughout the offseason despite uncertainty regarding his long-term future with the organization.
“Kyler has been in contact with all of us this offseason,” wide receiver Rondale Moore said.
The Cardinals selected Murray first overall in the 2019 NFL draft. He was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2019 and is a two-time Pro Bowl selection.
Kingsbury and the Cardinals have stated numerous times that they want Murray to stay in Arizona for the foreseeable future.
“I thought the work was good and spirited,” Kingsbury said Wednesday. “It was good to have him.”
