Kison Shepard, a Germantown tackle, decommits from Mississippi State football

Kison Shepard has reopened his college football recruitment.

Shepard, a 6-foot-5, 315-pound offensive tackle from Germantown High School, has decommitted from Mississippi State. He announced his decision Sunday on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Shepard was the No. 44 recruit in Tennessee for the Class of 2024, according to the 247Sports Composite.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, I will be decommitting from Mississippi State (and) reopening my recruitment to take time with making my decision for my future," Shepard wrote.

Mississippi State currently has 15 commitments for the 2024 class.

Shepard, a three-star prospect, was No. 7 on The Commercial Appeal's Dandy Dozen, a collection of the top college football prospects from the Memphis area for the Class of 2024.

Mississippi State recently hired Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby to replace first-year head coach Zach Arnett, who was fired after 10 games. Arnett finished with just four wins.

Cody Kennedy was announced recently as Mississippi State's next offensive line coach under Lebby. Kennedy had previously coached at Arkansas and replaces Will Friend in that role. Kennedy was a 2021 Broyles Award semifinalist, which is awarded annually to the top assistant coach.
