Kiel, Cedar Grove-Belgium to meet in WIAA Division 4 state championship soccer game

MILWAUKEE – Kiel and Cedar Grove-Belgium will meet Saturday in the Division 4 championship game at the WIAA state girls soccer tournament.

Kiel advanced with a 3-0 victory over Brookfield Academy on Friday, while Cedar Grove-Belgium moved on with a 3-1 victory over Lodi in the other semifinal.

The championship game is 7 p.m. Saturday at Uihlein Soccer Park.

Kiel 3, Brookfield Academy 0

Kiel, which remained undefeated with a 27-0-1 record, led 2-0 at halftime.

Taylor Schad got the Raiders on the board one minute into the game with an unassisted goal. It was her 57th goal of the season.

Maddie McDole scored at 14:46 off an assist from Taavi Saeger to make it 2-0.

The Raiders took a 3-0 lead at 67:26 when Abby Moore scored her 30th goal of the season off an assist from Schad.

Kiel goalie Katelyn Uselding made seven saves. Brookfield Academy goalie Sydnie Dehne made 10 saves.

Cedar Grove-Belgium 3, Lodi 1

Cedar Grove-Belgium, which improved its record to 20-2-2 with the win, led 2-0 at halftime against Lodi.

Cora Erickson scored all three goals for the Rockets. She now has 64 goals this season.

Erickson scored at 4:12 in the first half off an assist from Kami Horn. Her second goal came at 33:48 and was an unassisted tally. Erickson made it 3-0 with another unassisted goal at 50:58.

Lodi scored its only goal at 69:58 with Anna Stratton converting a pass from Gianna Burke.

Rockets goalie Payton Dodson made four saves. Lodi goalie Quetzal Peterson made nine saves.
