Who said preseason games can’t be at least somewhat enjoyable?

With barely any fans in attendance, two KHL clubs decided to entertain those that decided to show up to their exhibition game on Tuesday with a substantial line brawl off the opening faceoff.

Choreographed like it was part of an ice dancing routine at the Winter Olympics, all 10 skaters of Avangard Omsk and HC Sochi partnered up with their positional counterparts and dropped the gloves for five bouts that were certainly more than little skirmishes. All that was missing was a goalie scrap.

Vicious takedowns, bloodied noses, and loose equipment flying all over the frozen battlefield – these fights had it all and would warm the heart of any traditional hockey fan.

This isn’t the first time this month that these two teams decided to pull this move. During a different preseason game on Aug. 4, the opening faceoff eventually featured five fights as well.

At first, it was the Sochi players that appeared to be the initial combatants in their respective fights, but after three bouts were already taking place, the two Omsk defenders decided to jump in and make this a full-out brawl. Hilariously enough, you could almost see their thought process of "Well, we might as well join in and make it a spectacle."

The first game featured a whopping total of 149 penalty minutes handed out as the scraps continued throughout the contest. Both games ended up as Omsk victories – the Central Russia team earned an 11-5 aggregate score – so maybe it’s not the best idea for Sochi to continue starting their games with punches.

The KHL regular season begins on Monday with the first matchup between these two teams coming on Sept. 21, if you’re desperate to see some punches being thrown.
