Keyser shows off power vs Fort Hill; Petersburg blanks East Hardy

Mar. 29—KEYSER, W.Va. — The Golden Tornado showcased its power, sending four home runs over the fence in a 15-0 four inning shutout over Fort Hill on Wednesday.

Keyser hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning.

Leading 4-0, Rylee Mangold sent a line drive to left for a three-run shot.

On the next pitch, Bibs Felton hit a solo home run to center.

Leading 9-0 with two outs in the third, Tayler Likens went deep to center with a solo shot.

After a base hit from Mangold, Felton went deep to left for her second home run of the game.

Felton finished 3 for 3 with two home runs and three RBIs.

Mangold also went 3 for 3 with five RBIs and a homer.

The Tornado combined for 11 hits from six hitters.

Tatum Bishop recorded two of the three hits for the Sentinels (1-3).

Keyser hosts Frankfort on Friday at 6 p.m.

Petersburg 9 East Hardy 0

BAKER, W.Va. — A complete game shutout by Sam Colaw led Petersburg to a win over East Hardy on Wednesday.

Colaw went six innings, allowing two hits with nine strikeouts for the Vikings (5-0).

Petersburg scored runs across four innings, scoring at least two runs in each.

It was highlighted by an inside-the-park home run in the fifth inning by Miley Tingler on a fly ball to right. It scored two runs to extend the lead to 5-0.

Cheyenne Sites led Petersburg with two hits as seven Vikings each had one.

Madison Strosnider went six innings for the Cougars, allowing nine hits and nine runs (four earned) with three walks and 12 strikeouts.

Petersburg plays a doubleheader on Friday, beginning with Hedgesville at 11 a.m. and Jefferson at 3 p.m.

East Hardy hosts Tucker County on Friday at 5 p.m.

Frankfort sweeps Hampshire

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Frankfort controlled the final three innings, outscoring Hampshire 12-6 in a 14-6 victory in six innings on Wednesday.

The Falcons (4-2) scored five runs in the fifth and seventh innings.

Leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Avery Noel hit a solo home run to center.

Three straight hits loaded the bases and three straight at-bats ended in runs on a sacrifice fly, a fielding error and a groundout to go up 7-0.

Frankfort added five runs in the top of the seventh off of two errors and two groundouts.

The Trojans (2-5) scored all six of their runs in the final two innings, but it wasn't enough to complete a comeback.

Aubrie Root pitched a complete game for Frankfort, allowing 10 hits, six runs and five walks with six strikeouts.

Noel and Adison Pritts each had three hits and an RBI.

Raley Nestor, Dayahna Imes and Chloe Judy recorded two hits each.

The Trojans combined for 10 hits with Hailee Jenkins, Molly McVicker and Brianna Cosner each recording two.

Hampshire hosts Washington for a doubleheader beginning on Friday at 3 p.m.

Frankfort heads to Keyser on Friday at 6 p.m.

Moorefield 8 Berkeley Springs 0

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Cici Kump and Amber Williams led Moorefield offensively in a five-inning shutout over Berkeley Springs on Thursday.

Kump led the Yellow Jackets (5-2), going 3 for 4 with two RBIs while Williams recorded two hits and three RBIs.

Raleigh Kuykendall went 2 for 3 at the plate.

Williams went five shutout innings, allowing two hits with eight strikeouts.

Moorefield scored five runs in the first two innings and tacked on three in the final two.

The Yellow Jackets head to Frostburg on Saturday for a doubleheader against Frankfort at 2:30 p.m. and Mountain Ridge at 4:30 p.m.

St. James 20, Fort Hill 4

HAGERSTOWN — St. James scored 11 runs in the first inning and never looked back in a four-inning win over Fort Hill on Thursday.

The Sentinels (1-4) scored three runs to open the game, but the Saints quickly responded.

After a lineout to open the bottom of the first, 12 consecutive batters reached first.

It included a three-run home run by Lily Schlotterbeck to center field.

Schlotterbeck reached base four times on two hits and two walks in three at-bats.

She also drove in six RBIs and pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits, two earned runs and two walks with nine strikeouts.

Tenley Mullendore had three hits with two RBIs and a walk while Claire Barnes added two hits and three RBIs.

Alex Robertson and Nakiah Dunn led Fort Hill with two hits.

The Sentinels host Turkeyfoot on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
