Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook crack up Clippers bench during friendly trash talk session

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant and his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Russell Westbrook have never shied away from exchanging words since Durant's OKC departure.

In just their first season after Durant took his talents to Golden State during the 2016-17 offseason, the two engaged in memorable trash talk, as seemingly all of Oklahoma City did not care for Durant's move to the Warriors. Many in general did not feel great about the move.

Recently, however, the two future Hall-of-Famers appeared to put their issues in the past. When the Suns took down Westbrook's Clippers in the postseason last year, Durant was very complimentary of Westbrook's game.

Their trash talk also seems to have shifted to being on the friendly, competitive side as well. It does not appear to be laced with any ill will towards one another. That continued on Monday night, when Durant's Suns went to Los Angeles to take on Westbrook's Clippers:

Both sides ran their mouths a bit, but each did it with smiles on their faces. The best part was probably the fact that the Clippers bench couldn't get enough of it. It's not exactly clear what the two were saying, but both were definitely having some fun with it, and the bench couldn't help but be amused.

It truly has felt like the two moved on from whatever conflict there may have been after their split in Oklahoma City ever since the 2017 All-Star Game, where they played on the same Western Conference All-Star squad. Their teammates on that team were shown on camera trying to bring the two former NBA Finals teammates close together again.

As for their performances in Monday's game, both played well in their opportunities given. Westbrook wasn't on the court much (just 15 minutes), but still converted on three-of-six field goals, and hit all three of his free throw attempts for nine points. In addition, he picked up seven assists and two steals.

Durant put together a typical, dominant performance. He hit 10-of-17 shots (three-of-six from deep) for 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He went seven-of-eight from the charity stripe and also recorded a block.

Also on the Clippers is star guard James Harden, who won the Western Conference playing for the Thunder with Durant and Westbrook in 2012. After the game, Durant talked about playing against those two former teammates.

“We’re never gonna forget those moments we shared coming into the league," Durant said. "It was a special, special time that I always pull back from. I always loved playing with those guys so it’s good to see them have some success and still be in the league at 15, 16, 17 years in the league.”

Playing against those two means a lot for Durant. The trio have a combined 32 All-Star Game selections, 26 All-NBA selections, nine scoring titles and three NBA MVP awards.

This is now the second time this season that Durant has played against them. The Suns dropped both games, but will get two more cracks at the Clippers on April 9 and April 10.
