Kentucky high school football rankings: First media poll has St. Xavier No. 1 in Class 6A

Off to a 3-0 start, the St. Xavier High School football team is ranked No. 1 in Class 6A in the inaugural Kentucky High School Football Media Poll.

The Tigers are off this week after beating Male 20-10 on Friday.

Following St. X in the Class 6A poll are Frederick Douglass (1-1), Male (2-1), Trinity (1-2) and Manual (3-0).

The No. 1 teams in the other classes are Scott County (5A), Boyle County (4A), Christian Academy (3A), Beechwood (2A) and Pikeville (A).

Boyle County will host Scott County on Friday in a battle of No. 1 teams. Other top games entering the weekend include host Christian Academy's clash with Lexington Christian (No. 2 in 2A) and Pikeville's home showdown with Raceland in a battle of the top two teams in Class A.

The Kentucky High School Football Media Poll is conducted by 24 sports journalists throughout the state. The poll will be released each Wednesday morning throughout the regular season.
