Former Los Angeles Chargers LB Kenneth Murray to sign with Tennessee Titans in free agency

The Tennessee Titans will sign linebacker and former first-round pick Kenneth Murray to a two-year contract worth $18 million when the free agency signing window opens Wednesday, per an announcement from Murray's Instagram story.

The Titans are looking for inside linebacker help this offseason and Murray, the former Los Angeles Chargers starter, represents a fresh start for the unit. Murray logged 321 tackles in four years with the Chargers, including a career-high 107 in 15 games in 2023. He also had career highs in sacks (three) and pass breakups (four) despite missing two games.

Murray, a 2020 first-round pick (No. 23 overall), steps into a Titans linebacker room that needs to replace leading tackler Azeez Al-Shaair, who reportedly has agreed to sign with the Houston Texans.

In addition to Murray, the Titans have agreed to terms with or reportedly agreed to terms with running back Tony Pollard, center Lloyd Cushenberry and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie on the first day of the NFL free agency negotiation window.

The Titans came into the free agency window with roughly $80 million available in salary cap space, the second-most in the NFL. Running back Derrick Henry, defensive lineman Denico Autry, Al-Shaair, cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting and quarterback Ryan Tannehill all hit free agency this week, a major reason why the Titans have this surplus in cash. Autry reportedly is leaving for the Texans, and Murphy-Bunting posted on social media that he was leaving for the Arizona Cardinals.

Some of the Titans' biggest needs in free agency this year include adding starters on the offensive line and at cornerback, linebacker and receiver as well as depth pieces at quarterback, running back and safety.
