Kennedy Chandler, Team USA win U19 World Cup
Kennedy Chandler has yet to play a game for the University of Tennessee men’s basketball team, but he is already experiencing success on the world stage.
Chandler, an incoming freshman for the Volunteers, scored five points and recorded seven rebounds for USA Basketball’s U19 World Cup Team. Team USA defeated France, 83-81, to win the championship game in Latvia on Sunday.
The title game was the closest contest Team USA played in during the tournament.
Team USA advanced to the championship game with a 92-86 victory over Canada in Saturday’s semifinals.
Team USA, coached by TCU’s Jamie Dixon, also recorded tournament wins over Senegal, South Korea, Australia, Mali and Turkey.
