KC Current season ticket holders see new CPKC stadium for the first time

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The KC Current held an open house Saturday for season ticket members to see the CPKC Stadium for the first time.

“It’s a very nice stadium,” said Jessica Harmon, a KC Current season ticket member. ”I’ve been looking forward to it since they announced they were building it.”

Season ticket holders were excited to see their seats and experience CPKC stadium for the first time. They are even more excited to cheer on the KC Current during their home opener next weekend.

“It’s absolutely amazing, and just to see the love that Kansas City is giving to women’s soccer is absolutley incredible,” said KC Current season ticket member Lusha Bodie.

The open house was exclusively for season ticket members; they were able to see their seats, shop at the team store, and explore the stadium.

“It’s great. There are a lot of amenities. I like that they have local restaurants doing the food. All of the seats are good, as are the sightlines and everything,” said Barbara Harmon, a KC Current season ticket member.

Showing off the new stadium to season ticket holders is something club staffers have looked forward to.

“It’s been so cool. You work for so long creating the venue and the operational plan and being able to bring it to life. We have the best fans coming in here,” said Dan Boyd, the Vice President of Sales & Service. “Their excitement, joy, and passion, even just walking in with no soccer taking place today, but being able to see them so invested in what this organization does for the community and what the brand means to them and most importantly, what the team means it’s been nothing but smiles.”

Boyd said the excitement will continue to build over the next week leading up to the home opener.

“I get chills thinking about what it will be like for our team to take the pitch for the first time and have a national anthem sung in front of 11,500 fans in a sold-out venue,” Boyd explained. “It’s going to be an emotion shared amongst this community that we haven’t seen before.”

Fans are excited to cheer on the Current next weekend and see Kansas City celebrate women’s sports.

“Just seeing everybody play and have fun and just seeing the community come out and support women’s soccer,” Bodie said.

The open house allowed stadium staffers to prepare ahead of the home opener.

“Today was a great test because we also got to bring our team members and all of our staff, so being able to navigate the building was another big part of it,” Boyd explained. ”So we can deliver even better service leading up to the home opener with comfortability and confidence.”
