Karlie Schnepp eyes more after winning fourth Women's City Golf title
After winning her fourth Women’s City Golf Tournament on Sunday, Karlie Schnepp said she has her eyes squarely on a bigger goal.
The Rochester native wants to one day hold the record for the most titles.
Schnepp has her work cut out for her to reach Judi Meador’s record 11 titles won between 1958 and 1975 but the Quincy University junior-to-be has plenty of time on her side.
“I’m going for it,” Schnepp said of Meador’s record. “I want to be able to have my name on the trophy the most.”
Schnepp recorded a 2-over-par 74 at Lincoln Greens Golf Course on Sunday to finish the two-day event with a 151. She beat Becca Ramirez by four strokes. Both Ramirez and Schnepp fired 77s on Saturday at Bunn to tie for the lead after the first day.
It was Schnepp’s third Women’s City championship in a row. She won her first as a sophomore at Rochester High School in 2018.
She opened her round with a birdie on the No. 1 par-4 and that sparked a solid front nine.
“Everything after that (birdie), I had one bogey and shot even par,” Schnepp said. “It was as consistent as you can get.”

Schnepp is tied for the third-most titles with Nichole Inkel Bennett, Laura Patrick and Hannah Bachman. Tracy Tate won seven times from 1980-87.
She’s still growing as a golfer. For instance, Schnepp said she learned from some mistakes on Saturday and fixed them on Sunday.
“There’s obviously some things I can improve on,” Schnepp said. “When I played at Bunn (on Saturday), I didn’t have many putts drop like I wanted to but today it was more consistent and better, which is why my score dropped.”
Addison Eades finished with a 156 for third place and edged out Alaina Ervin, who shot a 157. Molly Marriott rounded out the top five with a 158.

Ellissa Warren won the first flight with a 168, Ann Clark shot a 167 to win the senior division’s championship flight and Sue Wheeler captured the senior first flight title with a 188. Connie Poinstingl won the super senior division with a 174 and Terri O’Brien won the super senior first flight plaque with a 187.
The inaugural Women’s City Cup went to Team Springfield Park District with a two-day total of 473. The top-three SPD golfers beat out the top three from Piper Glen by 43 strokes.
