Kareem Hunt has offseason surgery, played through hernia all year

After playing through a groin injury all season, Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt gets offseason hernia surgery.

Signed after the injury to Nick Chubb in the second week of the season, the Browns signed Hunt back to the roster, where he made a home in the endzone for them quite frequently. While he was not an explosive or efficient runner, Hunt found the endzone nine times for the Browns in 2023.

And playing through a hernia may have been the reason why Hunt has not looked like the Hunt of old over the past two seasons. He now gets that fixed as the Browns enter the offseason. The surgery is officially to repair a ruptured adductor.

Hunt is set to enter free agency, where he did not have many suitors a year ago. After proving his worth this season as a short-yardage back, and doing so through injury, will the Browns look to re-sign him?
