Jonas Valanciunas starts Martin Luther King Jr. Day with dunk-a-thon against 76ers

Ain’t no party like a slam dunk party. Just ask Jonas Valanciunas.
Ain’t no party like a slam dunk party. Just ask Jonas Valanciunas.

Toronto Raptors centre Jonas Valanciunas quickly wiped away the Blue Monday blues, celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day with dunk after dunk early against the Philadelphia 76ers.

During the first quarter, the 7-footer from Lithuania must have had something to prove against the 76ers, because no one (not even Joel Embiid) could stop him from exploding to the rim for powerful jams.

JV kept the party going later in the first quarter, throwing down another jam on a sweet dish from DeMar DeRozan.

On the season, Valanciunas is averaging 11.2 points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes per game. He’s also attempted a career-high 18 shots from beyond the arch, shooting 33 percent from deep.

But today, in a rare 1 p.m. game in Philly, JV wanted to prove he’s still got moves in the paint.
