Jordan Thompson opts not to return to LSU baseball, signs with Los Angeles Dodgers

LSU baseball has an answer for its biggest question following the 2023 MLB Draft.

Starting shortstop Jordan Thompson was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 15th round, late enough to put whether he would opt to return to Baton Rouge or go pro in serious question.

Late Wednesday night, Thompson, a Southern California native, revealed on his Instagram that he has signed a deal with the Dodgers, officially signaling the end of his three-year career with the Tigers.

While the loss of Thompson will sting, Jay Johnson and LSU will stave off some of the void as South Carolina transfer Michael Braswell will be coming on board.

ESPN ranked Thompson a top 150 MLB Draft eligible prospect this year. For his junior season, Thompson managed a .246 average, navigated a bit of a slump late in the season before breaking out in the NCAA College World Series championship series against Florida.
