How will Jordan Spieth perform in the Masters this year? Masters 2024 predictions, odds

Jordan Spieth returns to Augusta National Golf Club this week for his 11th career Masters Tournament.

Spieth - ranked No. 18 in the latest Official World Golf Rankings - won the 2015 Masters at 21 years old in just his second appearance in the event. Spieth, now 30, has yet to don the green jacket once again, finishing in the top five four times since then: 2016 (tied for second), 2018 (third), 2021 (tied for third), and 2023 (tied for fourth). A win this year would make him the 18th golfer ever with multiple Masters Tournament victories.

In 2024, Spieth's played in eight events to mixed results. He started the year with third in The Sentry, tied for 39th in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and tied for sixth in the WM Phoenix Open. But he was then disqualified from the Genesis Invitational for signing an incorrect scorecard. He followed that by finishing tied for 30th in the Arnold Palmer Invitational before missing the cut in The Players Championship and the Valspar Championship.

Spieth rebounded to finish tied for 10th in the Texas Open last week. After a rough third round doomed his hopes at a green jacket last year, Spieth will be hoping for better form this week in Augusta.

Here's what experts are saying about Spieth's Masters outlook in 2024.

A tradition that won't break the bank: Concessions are ridiculously cheap at the Masters. But beer will cost a little more this year

Oddschecker: Spieth's inconsistency in 2024 could help

Jason Radowitz write: "While he collapsed in 2016, he's still been super consistent with finishing at the top of the leaderboard. Spieth is now 31 years old and missed the cut in two recent events, including The Players Championship. But maybe that'll help Spieth clear his mind and be less fatigued. It seems like he always shows up for Masters."

Betting Pros: Spieth needs to lean into strokes gained and putting

Staff write: "Spieth has managed three top-10 finishes this season. He’ll really have to lean into the strokes gained: total category, which is big at Augusta National. He ranks eighth in the category and is also a very good putter. That will come in handy on the beautiful, lush greens in East-Central Georgia."

Jim Nantz: Spieth is his early choice for victory

Nantz told Sports Illustrated in January: “If you look at [Spieth's] career record at Augusta, it's phenomenal what he's done. Now, I know that a lot of that happened in ‘14, ‘15, ‘16, but he had a run of years where he had top-fives, top-twos, a victory. He had that run a couple of years ago where he was making birdies all over the landscape coming into 18. So, I like what I saw of him at Kapalua. I know at that point, we're like almost 100 days out, but I'm gonna go with Jordan Spieth.
