Joe Burrow cleared to resume football activities, will do 11 on 11s right away

Over the weekend, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow avoided going on the PUP list as the team made a handful of roster moves, sending various names to various lists.

Fast forward to Monday, the team officially announced Burrow has been cleared for football activities.

Meaning, Burrow will be out there for the duration of training camp. It doesn’t sound like team president Mike Brown — or most anyone else for that matter — wants to risk him during meaningless preseason games.

But Burrow is cleared. And as The Athletic’s Jay Morrison captured from Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, the team will use a bit of a more aggressive approach to practices:

The team had been overly cautious with Burrow during practices last month, not permitting anyone in the backfield with him or live balls on the ground. It sounds like those types of restrictions will ease off sooner than later.

This big hurdle clearance by Burrow is another step in his remarkable, mostly faster-than-expected recovery rate so far. By all accounts, he’s still right on track for Week 1.
