Jimmies women's wrestling hosts 2024 NAIA National Championships
Mar. 9—JAMESTOWN — The University of Jamestown hosted 37 teams over the weekend of March 8 in the 2024 NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championships at Harold Newman Arena.
The Jimmies had three wrestlers participating, as Agatha Andrews competed in the 191-pound weight class, Alyssa Johnson in the 155-pound weight class and Rayana Sahagun in the 109-pound weight class.
Andrews opened her tournament with a loss before bouncing back to beat Avila University's Shannon Briggs. Her tournament ended in the next round with a loss to Baker University's Janell Avila.
Johnson's national tournament started with a loss before she had a bye and then fell in a tight loss. Sahagun followed the same formula as she followed a loss up with a bye and then another loss.
Menlo College won the tournament with a score of 172. The Jimmies finished in 30th with a score of 2.5 points.
