Jimmies softball, men's hockey, men's volleyball win, women's hockey loses

Feb. 10—JAMESTOWN — The University of Jamestown softball team scored six runs in the top of the first inning on their way to a 14-2 win over Valley City State University (1-3) on Friday, Feb. 9, at the Nelson Family Dome.

The Jimmies (2-2) kept it up in their second game of the day as they got a 6-0 win over Dickinson State University (0-2).

Other results Friday

* The No.6-ranked University of Jamestown men's hockey team (21-8) got a commanding 5-1 win over the No. 9-ranked University of Mary (24-11) on Feb. 9, at the Marauders' Starion Sports Complex in Bismarck.

* The UJ women's hockey team (13-13) could not break through in a 3-0 loss to Midland University (24-0-2) at John L. Wilson Arena in Jamestown.

* The UJ men's volleyball team swept Viterbo University (25-8, 25-23, 25-18) at the Varsity Athletics Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The Jimmies (8-0) had 38 total kills in the match and held the V-Hawks (4-4) to a negative .124 hitting percentage.
