Jimmies men's hockey beats Waldorf 6-0

Jan. 20—ALBERT LEA, Minn. — The University of Jamestown men's hockey team threw 47 shots on goal in a 6-0 win over Waldorf University on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Warriors' Albert Lea City Arena.

The Jimmies (18-6) opened the scoring midway through the first thanks to Brad Fortin to make it 1-0. The score stayed that way until the 11:36 mark of the second period when the Jimmies' Greg Susinski scored to make it 2-0. The Jimmies added one more in the period to head into the second intermission up 3-0.

The visitors opened the floodgates in the third when they drew a five-on-three and made the Warriors (3-22) pay with a goal from Kole Christensson to push the lead out to 4-0. At the 10:58 mark of the third period, the physical play took a turn as the Jimmies' Justin Dumont and Brayden Michalchuk and the Warriors' Austin Mood-Flagg and Liam Wallace were all called for five minute majors for roughing and 15-minute game misconducts. The Jimmies were able to take advantage during the penalties as Jordan Kromm and Reid Wilson scored to push the Jimmies lead out to 6-0.

The win sees the Jimmies have back-to-back shutouts for the first time since Oct. 13 and Oct. 14, when they shut out Northern Illinois.

The Jimmies return to the ice at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, when they host Minot State University.
