Jett Williams named Mets minor league Player of the Year, Christian Scott named Pitcher of the Year

The Mets announced their 2023 player development awards on Wednesday afternoon, with Jett Williams (Player of the Year) and Christian Scott (Pitcher of the Year) earning the top honors.

Other award winners include:

  • OF Jeffry Rosa, DSL Complex Player of the Year

  • LHP Franklin Gomez, DSL Complex Pitcher of the Year

  • C Hayden Senger, Platinum Glove

  • INF William Lugo, Infield Gold Glove

  • OF Rhylan Thomas, Outfield Gold Glove

The 19-year-old Williams had a meteoric rise through the farm system in 2023, playing with Low-A St. Lucie, High-A Brooklyn, and now Double-A Binghamton. Across all three levels, Williams has slashed .263/.425/.451 with 13 homers, 55 RBI, 45 steals and 81 runs scored.

Scott, 24, has made his way though the same three levels this season, pitching to a 2.57 ERA with 107 strikeouts over 149.1 innings. In 12 starts with Double-A Binghamton, Scott has been exceptional, pitching to a 2.47 ERA with a 0.84 WHIP.

The recipients of the Player and Pitcher of the Year awards, the Platinum Glove award and others will be honored at Citi Field on September 28 prior to a 7:10 p.m. start against the Miami Marlins.
