Jaylon Johnson believes arrow is pointed up for Bears in 2023
The Chicago Bears have been a focal point of this 2023 offseason, where they had the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft (before trading it away) and more than $100 million in salary cap space to retool the roster.
In his second year as general manager, Ryan Poles has overhauled the roster with some key additions on offense and defense to address areas of need. That includes wide receiver DJ Moore, linebackers Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards, offensive linemen Darnell Wright and Nate Davis, as well as some potential impact rookies.
Following a busy and productive offseason, cornerback Jaylon Johnson believes the Bears are trending in the right direction heading into 2023.
“We’re heading in an upward projection for sure,” Johnson said on ESPN’s Keyshawn, JWill and Max. “There’s nothing that I don’t think we don’t have right now. I think we’re filling a lot of holes that we had last year. Starting with the D-line and the O-line, I think we’re building from the ground up. I think we have a good foundation.”
Despite winning just three games last season, there are some who believe the Bears could potentially contend for the NFC North and a playoff spot as early as 2023. Johnson certainly has high expectations for his team.
“There’s nothing that we can’t do right now,” Johnson said. “We just have to come in and keep proving ourselves, keep coming in and find ways to win games.”
