ATHENS — The Akron Zips remain all alone atop the Mid-American Conference men's basketball standings despite a road loss Tuesday night.

Jaylin Hunter scored 23 points and Ohio beat Akron 74-67. The Zips, though, benefited from Northern Illinois upsetting Toledo 75-72 on Tuesday to keep sole possession of first in the MAC.

Akron is 12-3 in MAC play. Toledo is 11-4 following two straight losses after it had beat the Zips a week ago to move into a first-place tie.

The Bobcats (16-12, 10-5 MAC) are tied for third in the league along with Central Michigan.

Hunter also added six assists for the Ohio. AJ Clayton scored 18 points and added four blocks. Aidan Hadaway and Shereef Mitchell scored 10 points apiece.

The Zips (20-8, 12-3) were led by Ali Ali's 16 points. Greg Tribble added 14 points for Akron. Enrique Freeman also had 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
