Jaylen Brown, 7uice honor life and legacy of late Terrence Clarke

Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown continues to honor the life and legacy of the late Terrance Clarke, a Dorchester, MA native and basketball phenom who died in 2021 at the age of 19. Brown and his apparel brand 7uice continue to work with Clarke’s friends and family to expand on Clarke’s legacy, this time with a limited edition t-shirt.

Clarke was born in Boston and played basketball growing up in southern New England. In that time and during his lone year at the University of Kentucky, Clarke built a strong friendship with JaylenBrown, one that blossomed into a relationship beyond basketball.

Brown has worked to celebrate Clarke since his passing in April of 2021. For example, when a community center in Roxbury, MA named a court after Clarke, Brown spoke at the event. Now, Brown is further honoring his late friend with a limited-edition Terrance Clarke shirt, released in collaboration with Clarke’s family and foundation.

These new shirts were first released at the opening of 7uice brand’s pop-up retail space in Boston’s Seaport. Brown invited his teammates, fans, and others to celebrate the opening and explore new 7uice merchandise, including the Terrence Clarke shirt.

Sid “Juice” Camille is one of Clarke’s long-time friends and works with the 7uice team to promote Clarke’s legacy and vision. CelticsWire spoke with Camille at the event.

“Terrance was a young man in my community, he was a close friend.” Camille said.”There has long been a collaboration between 7uice and the Terrance Clarke Foundation. Jaylen used to mentor him, we came up with this as a way to always keep his name alive.”

The shirts themselves feature several stylized photos of Clarke. Brown was wearing one of the shirts during the event, taking photos with fans and teammates.

“Jaylen is adamant about it.” Camille said. “It just made sense to release something special. Terrance lives through everybody. He had a positive impact on everybody. That’s what 7uice is about, to spread positive energy”

The tribute to Clarke was subtle. The t-shirts in question are a limited release, and though Clarke’s friends and family were in attendance, the event itself wasn’t overtly any sort of memorial.

Instead, as chief marketing officer for 7uice Quinton Brown explained, Clarke and his legacy are always a part of the fabric for 7uice and for the city.

“Terrance was part of our original 7uice team.” Jaylen Brown’s older brother Quinton said. “He brought that positive energy to Boston. As he passed, our philanthropy goal is to give back to his mom, his brother and sister. It’s to keep his Juice alive – he was so big for Boston.”

Creative Director for 7uice Malcom Durr echoed those sentiments, telling CelticsWire his team sought to keep Clarke’s energy alive throughout the community. That has always been the message from Brown, 7uice, and his partners.

“Terrence is one of us,” Brown said back in November of last year. “A piece of him is with us.”
