Jax State football transfer portal tracker 2023: Who is joining, leaving the Gamecocks, Rich Rodriguez

With Jacksonville State football now fully into its off-season and the early signing period almost over, it's time to focus all eyes on the transfer portal for the Gamecocks.

The Gamecocks wrapped up the season on Saturday, Dec. 16, with a 34-31 overtime win over Louisiana in the New Orleans Bowl. JSU also went 8-4 in the regular season with losses in Conference USA loss to New Mexico State and Liberty.

They are led by Rich Rodriguez, the former Michigan, Arizona and West Virginia coach, who just finished his second season at the school.

The start date for student-athletes to enter their names into the NCAA transfer portal opened Dec. 4, but grad transfers can enter at any point.

Players joining Jacksonville State football via transfer portal

Zevi Eckhaus, quarterback

Previous school/class: Bryant, senior

Eckhaus will bring a veteran presence after the graduation of Zion Webb. As a senior at Bryant, he threw for 2,907 yards and 28 touchdowns. In his career he has thrown for 8,513 yards and 75 touchdowns. The transfer was made official by the school on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Cam Jones, offensive tackle

Previous school/class: Cincinnati, redshirt-senior

Jones will bring FBS-level size to the offensive line, something that Rodriguez discussed throughout the season. Jones is 6-foot-8 and 330 pounds. An athletic lineman who started his college career as a 6-1 quarterback before moving around the offense. The transfer was made official by the school on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Samario 'Flip' Rudolph, wide receiver

Previous school/class: UAB, redshirt-senior

He was lightly used in the Blazer offense as a senior with 22 receptions for 183 yards and a touchdown. In his career, he has caught 45 passes for 545 yards and five touchdowns. The transfer was made official by the school on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Alen Karajic, kicker

The four-year starter at kicker announced his decision to enter the portal before the Jax State bowl game was announced. It's not clear if he will be able to play in the bowl game. He went 43 of 68 on field goals in his career.

Xavier Bausley, right tackle

The starting right tackle for 11 games this season, Bausley entered the portal following the bowl game on Wednesday Dec. 20. Bausley made his announcement via X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Sterling Galban, wide receiver

Galban had a down year with only 11 catches for 126 yards and a touchdown, especially coming off a strong freshman campaign with 433 yards and three scores in 2022. Galban announced the move on X on Dec. 20 after signing day signings ended.

Draft declarations, players moving on from Jacksonville State football

No players have announced future intentions but with plenty of super seniors announcements could be coming any day
